Sponsor Mary for the April 17th, 2010 Art-a-Thon! "I love paper and scissors, and will spend the Art-A-Thon day making Spiral Spinny-Things Mobiles. I'm bringing a flock of colored papers and a herd of scissors in case anyone would like to play too. I'll be travelling to the San Francisco Art-a-Thon from San Luis Obispo, where I'm a therapist, teacher, poet, gardener and comedian. I'm a wildly enthusiastic supporter of ArtSeed, of Marissa and Josefa, and of all the artists involved. That's me in in the purple shirt with my beloved 91 year old art teacher Mom Margaret. Margaret is from Rhode Island, and I grew up hearing her say the word "artist" so that it rhymes perfectly with the word "oddest." ~ Mary
How it works: Art-a-thoners volunteer their time on April 17th, 2010 to help raise funds for a cause they believe in: Art Education! Funds raised will go to scholarships for youth to ArtSeed's 2010 Fine Arts Summer Intensive and Artist Apprenticeship Program. Both programs connect youth with artists in a collaborative studio setting with an emphasis on long term one-to-one mentorships.
